Active Development in Aid (ADA)
Promoting peaceful coexistence, inclusive dialogue, and social cohesion through community-driven conflict resolution and stabilization processes.
Peace and conflict resolution are foundational to ADA’s mandate of restoring stability and enabling sustainable development in fragile contexts. The organization focuses on addressing root causes of violence and fragmentation through inclusive, locally owned mechanisms that promote dialogue, reconciliation, and social cohesion. ADA’s work in this area is informed by conflict analysis and grounded in the lived experiences of the communities it serves.
ADA engages traditional leaders, youth, women, religious figures, and local institutions to foster participatory approaches to conflict transformation. This includes supporting customary justice systems, community dialogue forums, civic education, and the peaceful reintegration of displaced populations. By aligning informal practices with rights-based principles, ADA enhances the legitimacy and effectiveness of local peacebuilding structures.
Conflict sensitivity is integrated across all thematic areas to mitigate risks and reinforce positive outcomes. Whether through health, education, livelihoods, or WASH interventions, ADA ensures that all programs contribute to a stable and cohesive social fabric. The organization’s cross-sectoral model strengthens resilience, promotes inclusive governance, and builds the capacities of local actors to prevent, manage, and resolve conflict.
ADA’s peacebuilding programming is structured around six interconnected areas that support local leadership, strengthen social bonds, and institutionalize inclusive conflict management systems. These components work both independently and collectively to prevent violence, resolve disputes, and promote community-led recovery in fragile and high-risk contexts. Each thematic area reflects ADA’s operational commitment to rights-based, participatory, and context-specific peace interventions.
