Active Development in Aid (ADA)
Active in Development Aid (ADA) is a regional humanitarian and development organization dedicated to delivering life-saving and life-sustaining interventions across Somalia and Kenya. Through community-driven programs in education, health, nutrition, WASH, protection, peacebuilding, and livelihoods, ADA works to foster sustainable self-reliance and uphold human dignity.
Active in Development Aid (ADA) is a regional non-governmental organization registered in Somalia, Kenya, and the United Kingdom, with over three decades of operational experience. ADA designs and delivers multi-sectoral interventions across humanitarian and development contexts, targeting vulnerable populations through evidence-based programming. Our core technical areas include health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security and livelihoods, education, protection, peacebuilding, and governance. Through structured partnerships with government institutions, UN agencies, and local civil society, ADA promotes inclusive access to essential services and supports communities in transitioning from crisis to recovery and long-term resilience.
ADA adopts a systems-strengthening approach anchored in rights-based and conflict-sensitive programming. Our operational footprint spans key regions including Gedo, Juba, Bay, Bakool, Galgaduud, and Banadir, where we implement integrated projects tailored to community needs. These include nutrition stabilization centres, school rehabilitation and feeding programs, income-generating initiatives, GBV prevention and response services, and large-scale water infrastructure works. ADA’s programmatic model emphasizes community ownership, cross-sectoral linkages, and capacity development to achieve sustainable impact and enhance institutional accountability across the humanitarian-development nexus.
